Dompoase (Ash), Jan. 14, GNA – A section of the youth at Dompoase in the newly created Adansi North District of Ashanti are bent on staging peaceful demonstrations against the kingmakers of the town for the delay in enstooling a new Dompoasehene after almost a year since Okofo Tabiri Agyei III was destooled.
The former chief was destooled by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene following complicated chieftaincy problems he had with the Adansi Traditional Council.
“We need Dompoasehene now since the absence of one is stagnating the development of the divisional area,” some of the agitated youth told the GNA.

According to the youth, the communal spirit of the citizens had waned considerably as people refused to respond to calls to communal activities.
“Work on the new palace for the town had come to a standstill whilst bags of cement left for the project could not be traced”, they said.
The agitated youth accused the regent, Nana Kwabena Appiah and some other kingmakers of intentionally slowing down the process to install a new chief.
Oheneba Nana Kwabena, Kwabena Tuffour and Nana Kwasi Buabu, the spokesperson for the youth, said they had a stake in the development of the town and therefore would not sit down for the regent and his allies to place their personal interest above the good of Dompoase. They maintained that if the kingmakers would continue to delay the enstoolment of a new chief to derail the development and growth of the town then it would be better for Otumfuo who is development-oriented to pardon the former Dompoasehene.
“We are appealing to Otumfuo to pardon Okofo Tabiri Agyei and allow him to assume his position as Dompoasehene to revive the development spirit of the Dompoase divisional area”, the spokespersons stressed. When the GNA contacted the regent, he said he was aware that the youth had wanted to go on demonstration sometime ago but “as for the New Year’s Day, I am not aware”.
Nana Appiah said he too wanted Dompoasehene immediately but failed to comment on what was causing the delay in the installation of one. Dompoase is among five out of the seven divisional councils constituting the Adansi Traditional council, which had no divisional chiefs due to disputes and other reasons. The rest are Ayaase, Akrokerri, Akrofuom and Bodwesango.
