The Dominion University College (DUC) on Saturday held a matriculation ceremony for 139 students admitted into the various programmes run by the institution for the 2013/2014 academic year.
Out of the number 108 gained admission to study Bachelor of Business Administration, whilst 13 would be studying Bachelor of Theology and Pastoral Care with the remaining 18 reading Bachelor of Science and Management.
The students made up of 96 men and 43 women were led by Reverend Dr Irene Acquah-Hayford, acting Registrar, to swear the Matriculation Oath, which binds each student to abide by all rules and regulations, and also be of good behaviour while pursuing their studies in order to promote a positive image of the university.
Dr Justice Emile Francis Short, Chairman of the DUC Governing Council and acting President of the school, congratulated the students for successfully obtaining admission to pursue their dreams in the university.
He urged them to make good use of the golden opportunity offered them by the university by staying focused, working hard and remaining conscious of the efforts and sacrifices of their parents and guardians towards their future job security through quality education.
Dr Justice Short admonished the students to live by their by words as contained in the matriculation oath.
“DUC is a Christian University with zero tolerance policy on indecent lifestyles, use of illicit drugs, smoking, immorality, occultism, homosexuality and other associated forms of social vices, so I urge you to think about these and make your four years life on campus be a profitable one not only to yourselves, but to your families as well as the civilised community we live in as a school,” he said.
