Domestic Water Consumers Must Not Sell Water

The Acting Managing Director of the Ghana Water Company, Mr. Jonathan Nii Ahele Nunoo, warned on Friday that domestic water consumers who sell water would be prosecuted when caught.

Mr. Nunoo who was speaking to the GNA in Accra said a task force set up to conduct a nation-wide disconnection exercise would also look out for people who store water in tanks to sell.

He said the disconnection exercise is only part of actions being taken by the company to strengthen its work to ensure that everyone gets water at least twice in a week, he said.

Mr. Nunoo warned those who tamper with their water meters so as to cheat the company to stop.

He said in the past such clients were left to go free, but now they would all be brought to justice.

Mr. Nunoo appealed to the public to bear with the company when water supply is interrupted, saying this is sometimes due to technical problems or power failure.
