Dogs unleashed on NPP marchers

Last Sunday’s weekly keep-fit march by the two main political parties, NPP and NDC in Nima was as eventful as it was a fortnight ago when Nana Akufo-Addo’s residence was attacked

NPP supporters who were marching had two dogs unleashed upon them; one of the dogs biting a small girl – a report about which has been lodged with the Nima Police Station where it is being investigated, the Divisional Commander has confirmed.

But for the timely intervention of the Police who it would appear would not want to be queried once for not being on top of their job, last Sunday’s would have been another bad story.

According to an eyewitness, the two dogs dressed in NDC colours were unleashed on the supporters leading to a girl being bitten.

The small girl was rushed to the Nima Government Hospital where she was treated and discharged. The Police stopped a revenge attack by the NPP supporters but one of the marchers has expressed concern that no arrest was made.

Another man allegedly pulled a weapon in the full glare of the police according to an eyewitness but he too was not arrested.

It was the constituency chairman of the party and the parliamentary candidate who went to lodge a complaint with the Nima Police.

The constituency communications secretary, Baba Seidu Issaka, in reaction to the incident, said the NPP in Nima would not be intimidated by such actions from the NDC.

The dynamics in Nima, he said, have changed adding that the people want education, jobs and development. Nima is no longer the stronghold of the NDC as it used to be, the officer said.

“We are resolute in our decision to vote against incompetence, corruption and mismanagement,” he asserted.
