“Do not react to provocations,” NPP supporters told

Akim Swedru (E/R), Dec. 5, GNA – The MP for Akim Swedru, Mr Felix Owusu-Agyepong has asked supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) not to react whenever they were provoked by their political opponents to help ensure incident-free elections on Tuesday.

He said the NPP would not use violence or intimidations to win the elections but the laudable achievements of the government would influence the electorate to renew its mandate.

Mr Owusu Agyepong, who is also the Majority Leader in Parliament and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, was addressing supporters of the Party at Akim Swedru on Sunday after joining them in a jogging exercise. He urged Party activists to identify known supporters in the Constituency and go to their houses on the Election Day to urge them to go and cast their votes.

The MP advised Party supporters not to loiter around the polling stations after voting but go back home and rather go back to observe the counting of the ballot.

The Birim South District Chief Executive, Mr Yaw Amprofi said the Government, within its short reign had done a lot to help to improve the living conditions of the people and urged the electorate to reciprocate the gesture by voting massively for the NPP.

In a related development, a delegation from Akyem Swedru Zongo Community paid a courtesy call on Mr Owusu-Agyepong at his residence to thank him for the assistance the Community had received from him, even though, they did not support him in the 2000 Elections. Replying, Mr Owusu Agyepong said it was the policy of the Government not to discriminate in the allocation of resources, adding that, the NPP Government would always keep faith with the people to ensure that Ghanaians lived in dignity.
