Do not politicise educational issues

Nkontomire (Ash), July 28, GNA- Nana Kofi Fredua-Agyemang, chairman of the Nkontomire School Management Committee (SMC), has advised that matters concerning education must not be politicised. He said rural communities must think of unity and self-help spirit to enable them to enhance their standard of living.

Education, he said, is the major key to civilisation and sustainable development and should therefore be void of partisan politics.

Nana Fredua-Agyemang was speaking at a forum organised by the Atwima district education directorate at Nkontomire in Ashanti on Tuesday.

The forum was aimed at identifying and finding solutions to problems militating against quality education and how to promote girl-child education.

Mr Ben Kusi, Unit Committee chairman called for closer links between the homes, school authorities and the community to improve education.

Mr Kusi advised parents especially women to stop using children for labour after school hours and rather encourage them to study at home.

Mr Philemon Atta-Gyamfi, Headteacher of the local primary school, complained of lack of accommodation for teachers and good drinking water and called on the district assembly to assist the community to address the problems.

Nana Stephen Opoku, regent of Nkontomire, who presided, commended the Atwima district assembly for providing the community with a Junior Secondary School (JSS).
