Do not deceive the public with cure for HIV/AIDS – Herbalist

Nkoranza (B/A), Oct. 07, GNA – Nana Asare Bediako, Secretary of the Nkoranza District branch of the Ghana Psychic and Traditional Healers Association has called on members not to deceive the public of having a cure for HIV/AIDS.

Speaking to Ghana News Agency at Nkoranza, Nana Bediako expressed concern about herbalists who claimed to have a cure for diseases including HIV/AIDS.

He said such attitudes and practices make the public lose confidence in herbalists and called on members involved in such practices to change. Nana Bediako said scientists were still undertaking research into a cure for the pandemic, and not until there was a scientific proof for a cure, herbalists should not deceive the public that they had a cure for the disease. He deplored the negative attitude of some herbalists who detained patients under the pretext of healing them but had no cure for such patients.

Nana Bediako advised herbalists to refer patients to competent members of the Association for healing and urged non-registered herbalists to register with the Association.
