Do not brand prisoners as useless-Chief

The Dwantoahene of Sunyani Traditional Area, Nana Takyi Abeam II, has appealed to the general public to stop branding ex-convicts as useless in society.

Speaking to Space news in Sunyani, Nana Takyi Abeam urged the public to see prison as a place of reform, observing that “society has the responsibility to support ex-convicts so that they become reformed persons who are beneficial to the nation”.

He said some people are serving jail terms for crimes they have not committed and such people need the total support of the society to integrate. He also advised relatives of ex-convicts to do every thing possible to meet their health and social needs.

Nana Takyi Abeam who is the managing director of Tayak Enterprise, in Sunyani, challenged parents to create communication links with their children and discuss problems freely with them.

He added that such measure will prevent them from falling prey to peer pressure that affects their up bringing. He again called on children to be disciplined at all times.
