Divisions in Obuasi Municipal Assembly abhorred

Obuasi, April 15, GNA- Mr Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, the Ashanti Regional Minister, has expressed concern about the creation of factions and divisions within the Obuasi Municipal Assembly. He said “If we want to continue with this disunity, it is the people we are representing that will suffer.”

Mr Owusu-Ansah, who took over as the acting Municipal Chief Executive from Joseph Kwadwo Boampong, said at the assembly’s meeting at Obuasi on Tuesday. He said “I know there are problems in this assembly. I know there is a nagging court case involving some assembly members,” and urged them to unite towards the development of the municipality.

The Regional minister commended Mr Boampong for his contribution to the development of the municipality adding that “you have done your part. I wish you well in your endeavours.” Nana Asirifi Asare II, the Presiding Member of the municipal assembly urged the members to ensure peace and unite for the progress of the area. Mr. Boampong had submitted a resignation letter to the Regional Minister and the President of the Republic of Ghana to enable him to contest for the Obuasi parliamentary seat on the ticket of New Patriotic Party.
