District implements 18 projects in 18 months

Breman Asikuma (C/R), July 25, GNA – The Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa (AOB) District Assembly has completed eighteen development projects in the past 18 months at a total cost of GH¢512,000 to improve the living conditions of the people.

The projects include school buildings, Kumasi Ventilated Improved Pit-latrines (KVIP’s), office accommodations, hand-dug wells, Area Council offices, teachers’ quarters, rehabilitation of feeder road and vault chamber toilet facilities.

Mrs Georgina Nkrumah Aboah, District Chief Executive for the area, said this at a ceremony at Kuntanase on Saturday to inaugurate all the projects.

Beneficiary communities of the projects include Brakwa, Odoben, Baako, Kokoso, Amanfopong, Nankese, Atu-Dawuda Benin, Jamra, Nkwanta Eshiem, Ayeipey, Boame Nkwanta and Breman Asikuma.

According to Mrs Aboah, the projects were financed with resources from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), the Common Fund and Community Base Rural Development Projects.

She indicated that the projects were evidences of the promise made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) under the leadership of President John Atta Mills.

The DCE called on beneficiary communities to take good care of the facilities and ensure their regular maintenance to prolong their lives span.

Mrs Aboah urged the people to honour their tax obligations to increase the Assembly’s Internal Generation Fund to supplement what government offers for developmental ventures.

She called on various area council members to educate their people on the need to pay their taxes and also collaborate with their various assembly members to explain government policies to the people.
