District Finance Officers Asked To Prepare Monthly Balance Sheets

Winneba (C/R), Aug. 21, – District finance officers have been advised to prepare monthly trial balance sheets of their assemblies for appraisal by the executive and finance committees. This will keep them abreast with the financial position of the assemblies to enable them to correct bottle-necks in the system. Mr Clement Aboagye, Central Regional Deputy Co-ordinating Director, gave the advice when he led a five-member team to inspect a number of on-going development projects in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya district. He suggested the active involvement of assembly members in revenue collection to reduce cost, saying that given some incentives, assembly members could be effectively used. Mr Aboagye called for hard work from employees of the assembly to make the decentralization policy meaningful. He commended the presiding member of the Awutu-Effutu-Senya assembly, members of the sub-committees and senior administrative staff who accompanied him on the inspection for their team spirit. The enthusiasm they exhibited during the tour indicates their love and determination to ensure the success of the assembly’s operations, he said.
