District director of MOFA deplores attitude of farmers

Asuokor (Ash), April 5, GNA- Mr Alfred Amo, the Ahafo-Ano South District Director of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) has deplored the attitude of some farmers in the district who have refused to pay for the fertilisers they bought on credit and other assistance given them.

He said by their attitude, they were depriving the nation of resources, depriving their colleagues of getting the similar assistance and had disappointed the government.

Mr Amo expressed these sentiments when he addressed farmers at Asuokor during a tour of some 18 communities in the district to familiarise himself with the problems of the farmers.

The communities included Abesewa, Pokukrom, Sabronum, Asuodei, Essienkyem, Adugyama, Kunsu, Bonkwaso, Asibe-Nkwanta, Baniekrom, Wioso, Domeabra, Mpasaso, Asuokor, Achiase, Mankranso and Afreseni.

He pledged to adopt stringent measures for the supervision, checking and control of the mass cocoa spraying exercise this year to stem stealing, apathy, laziness and the politicisation of the exercise.

Mr Amo called on the farmers to adopt modern methods of farming so as to improve upon their yields to enable them make more profit.
