Ho, Aug. 10, GNA – Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister on Tuesday swore into office 12 District Chief Executives (DCEs) and a Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Region.
The ceremony, which took place during the first general meeting of the Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council (VRCC), saw the executives being given their instruments of appointment.
Mr Dzamesi said an orientation workshop would soon be held for the Chief Executives to educate them as to how best to go about their work and the kind of relationship they should have with other stakeholders in the governance of the districts.
He advised them to exercise a high degree of decorum as public officers at all times and at all places.
“You must for example be punctual at office and at functions and anywhere else. You must be patient, tolerant, understanding, fair but firm in your dealings with people,” he said.
Mr Dzamesi also urged the Executives not to interfere with the due process of the law but be guided by the 1992 Constitution and other relevant laws and should not forget the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) manifesto.
Mr Abraham Dwuma Odoom, Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, congratulated the Chief Executives and asked them to be mindful of the President’s policies while dealing with their respective Members of Parliament (MPs) and the public. He called on them not to lose sight of the President’s three pronged development areas and to work hand in hand with the MPs to advance development in their areas.
Mr Odoom underscored the importance of a good relationship between them and their MPs and called for co-operation between the two to help actualise the Rural Enterprise Development Project (REDP). In attendance at the ceremony were the Volta Regional Parliamentary Caucus, District Co-ordinating Directors and Heads of Government Departments.
