District assembly to re-settle widow for encroaching on her land

Aburaso (Ash), Aug 3, GNA – The Ahafo-Ano South District Assembly has agreed to re-settle a 67-year-old widow whose land had been appropriated by the assembly to build the Roman Catholic Junior Secondary School at Aburaso.

In addition Mr Sampson Amofa-Krah, the District Director of Education, has given Madam Adisa Agbevan 100,000 cedis to enable her two grandchildren, Adisa Abdulai, 09, and Fataw Abdulai, 05, who have dropped out of school due to financial problems, to go back to school. He also instructed the girl-child unit of the directorate to monitor the two pupils to ensure that they attended school regularly. The widow received the assistance when the seven-member District Education Oversight Committee visited the school as part of its visit to some schools.

The committee also visited the Nahadathul Islamic Schools at Asuadai, Biemso Number Two primary and junior secondary schools and the Fawoman primary and junior secondary schools.

Mr Amofa-Krah commended the Nahadathul Islamic schools for topping in the 2003 and 2004 Basic Education Certificate Examination in the district in spite of poor infrastructure and urged the staff and pupils to keep it up.
