District Assembly spends 140 million cedis on education

Kintampo (B/A), Dec 17, GNA- The Kintampo District Assembly has spent about 140 million cedis in the education of some selected brilliant but needy students within the past four years.

Mr. James Kwabena Bomfeh, District Chief Executive told Ghana News Agency that the beneficiaries were in Junior Secondary Schools (JSS), Teacher Training Colleges and tertiary institutions. He said 62 teacher trainees benefiting from the district’s scholarship scheme would come back to help improve the standard of education in the district.

Two teachers’ quarters have also been provided for teachers serving at Pramposo and Apesika, he added.

Mr Bomfeh said 141 household toilets had been constructed in Kintampo, under the Community Water and Sanitation programme, while 17 boreholes have also been constructed for selected communities. He said 120 more boreholes would be constructed in the district under the same programme.
