Faaman (B/A), July 31, GNA- Techiman District Assembly is to provide boreholes valued at 2.6 billion cedis in 52 selected communities in the district under the Community Water and Sanitation Programme (CWSP).

Beneficiary communities will pay 2.5 million cedis each, representing five percent of the cost of each project. Mr Isaac Osei-Antwi, District Chief Executive, said this at a meeting with the Chiefs and people of Faaman.

The meeting, which was jointly organized by Faaman unit committee and Government Accountability Improved Trust (GAIT), an NGO, discussed development projects in the area.

Mr Osei-Antwi advised the people of Faaman to pay their contributions promptly.

Mr Kwabena Darko, Techiman District Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), urged farmers to diversify their farming activities to earn more and improve their lifestyle. Mr Solomon Mensah-Aborampah, GAIT programme facilitator said the organization was committed to the development of communities and called on the people to attach importance to development issues in their areas. He said GAIT as an NGO “facilitates and creates a platform for people to dialogue on development issues and demand accountability from public officials”.

The Odikro of the area, Nana Yaw Issah Boufour, appealed to the Techiman District Assembly to help speed up with the electrification project in the area under SHEP 111.
