The Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District Assembly last year collected ?107 million representing 69 per cent of targeted revenue of ?123.7 million.
Mr Andrew Mensah, District Chief Executive, announced this at the first ordinary meeting of the assembly at Abura Dunkwa.
He expressed the hope that with the assistance of the unit committees, town and area councils, assembly members and the assembly’s revenue collectors it would achieve its targeted of ?155 million this year.
Mr Mensah said the assembly was undertaking five major projects in the district and these were the construction of a block of three classrooms with an office and a store at Putubiw, Kwamankese, Nyamedom and Nyamfeku Ekroful, a library at Abura Dunkwa and 12-seater toilet at Moree.
He said the assembly had received ?500 million out of the one billion cedis under the highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) grant for the construction of a clinic at Asomdwee, a block of three classrooms at Amosima and a 12-seater vault chamber toilet at Katakyiase.
On education, the DCE said he was not happy about the last Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results in the District and appealed to teachers and pupils to do their best.
Meanwhile, the assembly had decided to raise funds to support education as part of efforts to help raise the standard of education.
Under the fund a senior secondary school student would pay a yearly levy of ?6,000, a junior secondary school student pays ?3,000 while upper primary pupil would pay ?1,000.
