Dismissal of Asante Mampong NPP executives nullified

Mampong (Ash), April 17, GNA – The Ashanti Regional Secretariat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has nullified the dismissal by executives of the Asante Mampong Constituency of the party of two of its members. Mr. Samuel Kudjoe, the Regional Secretary of the party, said the NPP continued to recognize Mr Isaac Twum Amankwah and Madam Akua Adoma, the two executives, by their original status and urged them to carry on their assigned roles.

He disclosed this to GNA on Thursday in reaction to the purported expulsion that the Asante Mampong NPP Executives claimed was due to misconduct.

Mr. Kudjoe said the Asante Mampong NPP held a delegate congress, at Mampong, where the action was taken without the approval of the Regional Secretariat, which he said lacked the party’s constitutional mandate. Such event, he said, could only be supervised by the Regional branch of the Electoral Commission and not the Municipal branch of the Commission.

Mr. Kudjoe said that NPP Mampong Constituency chairman, Ohenaba Kwasi Duwaa misinterpreted Article 10 of the party’s constitution, which was quoted to support the expulsion of the two executives. He also expressed dissatisfaction that Oheneba Duwaa organized the election in defiance of an earlier letter from the Regional Secretariat restraining him from organising the delegates’ congress. Mr. Kudjoe said the Constituency Chairman’s attitude undermined the party’s authority and admonished him to conduct NPP activities in conformity with its principles. Mr. Kudjoe appealed to party executives and supporters to seek peace and unity as they carried out their assigned duties. 17 April 09
