Discovery Channel to highlight devts in Ghana

Accra, Jan 6, GNA – Discovery Channel, leading global information Channel, would this year make a documentary on Ghana to highlight the country’s achievements, Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Press Secretary to President John Agyekum Kufuor, has announced.

The documentary would be an hour-long, primetime Cable Television exploration of the various aspects of Ghana’s diverse culture and rich history.

It would also bring out the contributions Ghana and her citizens have made to the development of Africa and the world; the strides its economy is making and the natural wonders of the country.

Mr Agyepong, who was speaking to the Media, at the Castle, Osu, said, “Ghana seems to be attracting the gaze of an admiring world in recent times” and attributed the trend to the peace and stability the country had been exuding in a West Africa Sub-Region that had been rent by war.

He said President Kufuor had shown his maturity and commitment to democratic ideals in the three years that he had been in office and the people had responded by displaying selflessness towards the transformation of the country.

President Kufuor would give an opening and exit interviews and offer his impressions on the different issues to be focused on. Mr Agyepong said Ghana was chosen alongside five other African countries for coverage, adding that the choice was a “plus for Ghana and will afford the country and her citizens an unparalleled opportunity to showcase its rich and varied attributes to the world”.

He said several major international media organisations including Voice of America (VOA); Cable News Network (CNN); British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and South Africa Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and their affiliates had expressed interest in interviewing and indeed some had interviewed President Kufuor, primarily to highlight his unique leadership style and to project the steady strides Ghana was making under his Presidency.
