Disclaimer: FDA has not released any list of unregistered products

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has denied publishing a list of unregistered products as reported in a section of the media.

A statement issued on Wednesday by John Odame-Darkwah, Deputy Chief Executive (Food Safety Division) said:

“The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) therefore wishes to state categorically that the FDA has not released any such list except a list of registered products it has posted on its (FDA’s) website and therefore calls on the general public to disregard the said publication.”

DISCLAIMER NOTICE – FOOD AND DRUGS AUTHORITY (FDA) HAS NOT RELEASED ANY LIST OF REGISTERED PRODUCTS

The attention of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has been drawn to a publication on peacefmonline accredited to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on an alleged “release of a list of registered products” by the Food and Drugs Authority. The publication further listed products that it (the publication) claimed to be unregistered and fake.

The FDA wishes to state that it has no knowledge of the said published list.

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) therefore wishes to state categorically that the FDA has not released any such list except a list of registered products it has posted on its (FDA’s) website and therefore calls on the general public to disregard the said publication.

Furthermore the general public should note that the list of registered products posted on the FDA website is updated periodically.

Finally the FDA wishes to entreat the public, particularly the media, to always confirm stories related to FDA with the Head of Communications (on 0244337235) before going public.
