Disaster victims receive relief items

Hohoe, Mar. 4, GNA – The Hohoe District Chief Executive, Mr James Komla Dogbe has presented relief items worth 101 million cedis to victims of disaster in the district.

The items include 64 packets of roofing sheets, a quantity of mattresses and bags of rice.

Addressing the victims, Mr Dogbe noted that most of the disasters could be prevented.

He asked the management of some schools, which were affected to encourage the pupils to plant trees on their compounds to serve as wind breaks and advised them to employ competent personnel to construct their buildings.

Mr Ben Asimenu, District Co-ordinator of National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), expressed sympathy for the victims and noted that even though they could not satisfy all their demands, they should take the items as a token of sympathy. The relief items were bought with part of the district’s share of the common fund.
