Disaster victims benefit from relief items

Kumasi, April 8, GNA – Thirty-five out of 230 people who suffered losses in a recent rainstorm disaster in parts of the Kumasi metropolis have received roofing sheets from the National Disaster management Organisation (NADMO).

They received a total of 40 packets of roofing sheets to supplement their efforts at re-roofing their houses. The victims came from Atonsu, Kaasi, Gyinyase, Asokwa and Kyirapatre.

Making the presentation in Kumasi, Mr Alfred Abu Amosi, Assistant Disaster Control Officer of the Metropolitan NADMO office, said the government would ensure that all victims of the disaster received some help.

He commended ‘Hello FM’, a Kumasi-based radio station for instituting a disaster fund to mobilise funds to assist victims of the rainstorm.
