DISASTER MANAGEMENT TRAINING FOR MARKET WOMEN

Market women are to be trained on how to manage fire outbreaks in the absence of Fire Service personnel. the Greater Accra Regional Co-ordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation, Mr.. Kartey Dorgbey announced this at a forum held for Madina Market Women in Accra. The forum forms part of the organisation’s programme to sensitize the public on disaster management. Mr.. Dorgbey observed that some women fail to put out fire after preparing meals. This practice, he said, could easily lead to a fire outbreak. He also expressed concern about the haphazard way electrical connections are done in some shops at market places. Mr.. Dorgbey warned that if the practice is not discouraged it could lead to more fire outbreaks in the markets. End
