Disaster Committee Planning For Bad Day

Sunyani (B/A), June 25, – The National Disaster Management Organisation (NDMO) is stock-piling relief items throughout the regional capitals to ensure quick relief to disaster victims. Mr Titus A. Kuuyuor, chief disaster officer in charge of NDMO’s Geological section, said this at Sunyani today at the presentation of relief items valued at 30.7 million cedis to the brong ahafo region to be distributed to future disaster victims. ”Unlike the past when relief items were rushed from Accra to disaster victims, the strategy now is to get such items as close as possible to potential victims”, Mr Kuuyuor said. Among the items were 50 bundles of roofing sheets, 600 bags of rice, 500 pieces of blankets and 100 pieces of mattresses, 100 bottles of cooking oil and 600 pieces each of plates and plastic cups.
