Disabled in Berekum want loans

Berekum, Aug 4, GNA – The Berekum District Association of the Physically Disabled at the weekend appealed for loans to enable skilled members to expand their activities. Nii Quaye, District Secretary of the Association, speaking at a meeting said some of them had trained in black smiting, dressmaking, batik tie and dye and soap making but lacked financial support. He appealed to the government to consider their plight and assist to prevent them from drifting onto the streets to beg for alms.

The Association was constructing a 200 million cedis Rehabilitation Centre at Berekum with support from an American Catholic NGO. Nii Quaye thanked the management of the Ghana Cement Company (GHACEM) for supporting the project with 200 bags of cement.
