Nyinahin (Ash), May 8, GNA- Members of the Atwima-Mponua Disabled Association have given the District Assembly a month ultimatum to give their five per cent share of the District Assemblies Common Fund to them.
The members maintained that since the government directed that every district assembly should give five per cent of its common fund to the disabled, those in the district have received nothing from the assembly.
They gave the ultimatum at their general meeting held at Nyinahin on Sunday.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency, Mr Alex Kyei Akomea, secretary of the association said if after one month nothing is received from the assembly, they would take to the streets. He said some district assemblies have released the five per cent of the common fund to their disabled. He on behalf of his colleagues thanked the government for taking care of the disabled.
When Mr Wilberforce Owusu-Ansah, the District Chief Executive was contacted, he said four disabled persons in the district have been given support in a form of logistics. He said, “If the assembly would support them at all, it would not be cash but logistics”.
