Director condemns environmental pollution

Techiman (B/A), March 11, GNA – Mr Kwabena Agyeman-Badu, Nkoranza District Director of Education, has urged Techiman Municipal Assembly to protect the ‘Millennium’ park at Komfourkrom from being used as a refuse dump.

He noted that the practice had led to environmental pollution, posing a threat to the health of the people.

Speaking to newsmen at Techiman, the district director expressed regret that some unscrupulous people had turned the park into a waste disposal site and a den for Indian hemp smokers and peddlers. Mr Agyeman-Badu called on the Assembly and the security agencies to help curb such activities to save residents and traders from constant harassment by the perpetrators.

He advised the people to embark on clean up exercises and to educate their children to avoid the indiscriminate disposal of solid waste, as it posed threat to good health. 11 March 05
