Did John Boadu storm out of NPP crisis meeting?

National Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party John Boadu has debunked claims that he walked out of the party’s crucial Steering Committee meeting at the party’s headquarters on Monday.

The crucial Steering Committee meeting was to seek best ways of resolving the recent controversies that have bedeviled the party.

John Boadu was believed to have left the crisis meeting which was attended by the party kingpins after some disagreement on issues raised.

But “Uncle JB”, as he is popularly called, described the allegation as “hilarious” after admitting that messages flooded his phone as party followers wanted to be abreast of his alleged ‘walk out’.

“Where from this too…nothing of the sort happened during the meeting yesterday. Almost all of us agreed to issues raised during the meeting. Issues that will distract our upcoming Special Delegates’ Election were solved amicably.

“…There was no tension or misunderstanding (at the meeting) that could have resulted in me walking out. Arguments during meetings are normal but nothing of the sort (walk out) happened there,” he told Kwame Nkrumah Tikese on Ade Akye Abia programme.

NPP was hit by controversy last week which is only beginning to settle.

It all started last week Tuesday when a violent group besieged the party’s headquarters and disrupted a news conference convened by the National Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong, in the wake of the brouhaha generated after Perry Okudzeto, the Acting Director of Communications for the party was asked to proceed on leave.

No one has been arrested and none of the thugs have so far been identified.

The Council of Elders of the NPP later ordered the leadership of the party to focus on national issues bothering Ghanaians and refrain from the needless internal bickering and squabbling.

The Council of Elders also embargoed commentary on electronic and social media on party issues and said anyone who violates these “will be subject to the Party’s disciplinary procedures.”
