Diaspora CPP bids Madam Fathia Nkrumah farewel

Reacting to the infighting going on among NPP members in Central and Western Regions and resultant defections to CPP, Mr Bright Oduro Kwateng, a leading member of CPP said those Nkrumahists who deserted the family to join other parties including the NDC and NPP are coming “Home”. Bright stated that, ” the death of Africa’s foremost first lady and mother of modern day Ghana and CPP has brought those who believes in the ideas of Kwame Nkrumah together under the umbrella of the CPP”.

Mr Oduro Kwateng declared that as the nation mourns the first Lady, Madam Fathia Nkrumah, wife of late President Kwame Nkrumah (the man Africans voted the “Best African of the Millennium” for his selfless leadership), Ghanaians must solemnly reflect on the pivotal role that the departed first lady played in our country by contributing to the advancement of Ghanaian and African women in the international arena.

Bright appealed to all Ghanaians to join hands with CPP to pay a fitting respect to the departed first lady. Bright said when the first lady step on the podium at the United Nations in New York in 1978 to receive a posthumous award on behalf of her husband Dr Kwame Nkrumah, and Ghana, every member of the world body began to clap which resulted in a standing ovation. Madam Fathia Nkrumah dedicated her husband’s medal to the people of Ghana despite the humiliation that she suffered from the military junta that overthrew the Nkrumah government.

Mr Oduro Kwateng said the humility that madam Fathia Nkrumah showed to the people of Ghana and her love for her adopted homeland stands her out as an extra ordinary woman and a true African Patriot.

Bright Oduro Kwateng said as madam Fathia husband’s house is nearing completion and the party on the verge of forming the next government all Nkrumahists are welcome home.

Mr Oduro Kwateng who was addressing a press conference in London, said CPP had expressed their profound condolences to the 4 surviving Nkrumah’s children and said all Nkrumahists and the CPP will give Madam Fathia Nkrumah, mother of modern Ghana, a burial and farewell befitting the wife sub-Saharan Africa’s foremost head of state and father of Afica Union.

Mr Oduro Kwateng who was in a sombre mood called on all Ghanaians to turn up in their numbers to pay their final respect to the late Madam Fathia Nkrumah, mother of African unity
