DFP General Secretary says parties should preach peace

Kofi Ansahkrom (C/R), Dec 31, GNA – Mr John Amekah, Deputy General Secretary, of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), has appealed to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to preach peace and avoid campaign of insults and acrimony.

Peace, Mr Amekah said, was the master key the nation could use to conduct free, fair and appreciable general elections next year.

Mr Amekah said this at a meeting at Kofi Ansahkrom near Abamkrom at which he outlined the party’s aims and objectives to the people on Saturday.

He said DFP believed in the maintenance and growth of democracy in all spheres of national endeavour as such it was the duty of all politicians, irrespective of the size of the political party, to shun “dirty politics” and embark on decent and respectful electioneering campaign.

He said the DFP would conduct campaign devoid of insults and other negative acts to show to the electorate that when given the mandate it would mobilize the people for effective and collective nation building.

Mr Amekah appealed to the electorate to vote DFP into power next year for good governance and that the country had tested the administrations of NDC and NPP.

“This is the time for the electorate to change the baton to ensure lasting peace and prosperity for all.” He commended the ruling NPP for introducing National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) that was making strides in the health delivery system and appealed to the government to let the scheme cover many diseases.
