‘Dev’t policies should recognize concerns of women’

Prophetess Elizabeth Quayeba Abredu has called on policy makers to link issues concerning women with development.

She said the Ghana Poverty Reduction Strategy (GPRS) does not fully accommodate the concerns of women and thereby, making poverty alleviation difficult to achieve.

Prophetess Elizabeth Quayeba Abredu, who is in-charge of the Promiseland Prayer Camp of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) at Anum Apapam, in the Ayensuano District, was interacting with journalists after a programme to review the status of women in the country.

The Promiseland Prayer Camp has over 260 members, mostly women across the district, and it has among its programmes, “Aid for Child Development” and “Women Empowerment” projects.

Prophetess Abredu called on the sector Ministry to put in place appropriate interventions to encourage women to go into high income-earning activities such as cash crop farming, animal husbandry, agro-processing and horticulture.

She urged women advocacy groups to intensify public education on the fight against poverty, saying that, it would afford Ghanaians the opportunity to appreciate and understand the state of the woman.

Prophetess Quayeba Abredu said she has established the Future Leaders Preparatory School at Anum Apapam with a branch at Achiansa, and that, plans are far advanced to establish an orphanage and a vocational centre.
