Dev’t of rural areas needs commitment- DCE

Banokrom (Ash), March 18, GNA- Mr Kwaku Obeng Boateng, Ahafo-Ano South District Chief Executive, has said the development of the rural areas can be achieved through sacrifice and commitment.

Addressing chiefs and people of Banokrom on Monday as part of his tour in the area, Mr Boateng explained that there was the need for the people to initiate self-help projects to attract assistance.

He also said there was the need for philanthropists to assist the rural people to raise their living conditions.

He regretted that a lot of people from the area consider the rural areas as places for farming and therefore refuse to help in developing the district.

Mr Boateng told them to initiate more self-help programmes to attract assistance from the government and NGOs.

Mr Kwame Amoateng, Assemblyman for the area, appealed to the district assembly, and the government, the Ghana Education Service (GES) to assist them in the provision of school blocks and rehabilitate the six-kilometre Banokrom-Okwawu feeder road.
