Development projects at Assin North on course

Assin Fosu, Nov. 25, GNA – Mr. Alex Antwi-Boasiako, Municipal Chief Executive of Assin North, said projects initiated by the assembly to give the area a facelift, and improve upon the socio-economic wellbeing of the people were progressing.

He said projects being funded by the GETFund included the construction of a six-unit classroom blocks for the Akonfudi Mosama Christo Disco, Fosu Methodist, Gangan M/A, Atwereboanda, Benuye, and Obiri Yeboah Senior High School where a Girls dormitory project was also being executed.

Mr Boasiako told GNA that the Japan International Cooperation Agency was funding the construction of classroom blocks with offices and KVIP toilets for schools at Sekanbodua, Afenase, Krofofordu, Odumase Wawase, Abotarye, Bereku Nyamebekyere and Awisem.

He said the District Assembly Common Fund projects included the building of market stalls at Fosu and Assin Praso, a bungalow for the Municipal Coordinating Director, a guest house and an Out-Patient Department for the Fosu Health Centre.

Mr Boasiako said the Assembly has qualified for the District Development Facility (DDF) and GHC 376,560.00 has been released for more development projects.

The projects under the DDF included the rehabilitation of the Fosu Health Centre, the Construction of six-unit classroom block at Donkorkrom, three-unit classroom blocks each at Abobakrowa, Aponsie, Subinso and Worakese Camp and the supply of dual desks to schools in the Municipality.

Mr. Antwi-Boasiako said the Assembly realized GHC269, 833.84, representing 70.35 per cent of the GHC383, 543.00 internally generated target. Mr. Antwi-Boasiako commended Government for releasing 46 motorbikes for distribution to Assembly Members, to facilitate their work.

He said the assembly would rehabilitate streetlights to reduce the crime rate in the Municipality.
