Development agencies blacklist Kwahu West Assembly

Nkawkaw, Dec. 12, GNA – Some governmental and non- governmental organisations have blacklisted Kwahu West Municipal Assembly, for the failure of the assembly to contribute its counterpart funding for development projects.

The organisations comprised Community Water and Sanitation Agency, Danish International Development Agency and the European Union. The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Alex Somoah Obeng, disclosed this at the second meeting of the fourth session of the assembly at Nkawkaw on Friday.

He said before some of these organisations undertook projects they had to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the beneficiary assemblies and communities to contribute a percentage of the total cost. Mr Obeng said unfortunately the assembly, failed to honour the MOU for the execution of projects such as boreholes, places of convenience, classroom blocks and feeder roads.

He urged the assembly to educate the people about the need to contribute towards the implementation of donor- funded projects. The Presiding Member of the assembly, Mr Agyenim Boateng, advised revenue collectors of the assembly to improve upon their performances to raise money to finance development projects in the area.
