Developers appeal to the IGP to stem harassment by landguards

Accra, July 5, GNA – A number of developers at Agyiringanor, near East Legon in Accra have appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the National Security to help stem the harassment and brutalities against genuine land owners by a group of landguards operating around the TRASACO estates in Accra.

Mr Justice Amewu, one of the developers told the Ghana News Agency in Accra that he and his construction workers were on Monday brutalised by some landguards numbering about 15 and led by one Mohamed also called “Sobibor” and Korley, all based at Atukpai in Accra.

According to Mr Amewu, some of his workers were hospitalised following their brutal assault by the landguards.

He said their personal property including cash mobile phones and watches were stolen by the landguards during the attack. Mr Amewu said if immediate steps were not taken to stem the activities of the landguards they could go to the extent of killing innocent construction workers who were only working for their livelihood.
