Deputy Minister withdraws from primaries

Jema (B/A), Aug. 11, GNA – Mr Adu Gyan, a Special Assistant to the Minister of Transport and Communication, was on Tuesday elected by public acclamation as New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Kintampo South Constituency in Election 2004.

This was after the other contestant, Mr Yaw Adjei-Duffour, Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, withdrew from the contest.

Mr Gyan promised to work hard to enable the party to win in the Constituency and appealed to the people to join the campaign for a landslide victory in the December polls.

Mr Adjei-Duffour thanked President John Agyekum Kufuor for endorsing the split of the Kintampo Constituency into two and promised to help the Party to win the seat.

Mr Isaac Boahen, Presiding Member of Kintampo District Assembly, polled 47 votes to win the Kintampo North primaries to contest the elections on the ticket of NPP.

He beat Mr Abdulai Razak, who had 40 votes and Mr Ishmael, 23 votes, while Mr Adu Baah got a single vote.

Mr Lord Commey, the NPP National Organiser, who led the Party’s Executives to witness the two elections, appealed to the two candidates to work hard to enable NPP to win in the two constituencies.
