Deputy Minister of Information satisfied with Kumasi GNA office

Kumasi, Oct. 17, GNA- Mr Stephen Asamoah-Boateng, Deputy Minister of Information on Monday expressed satisfaction with the Ashanti regional office of the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi.

“I am impressed with your office. It is just like the editorial offices of the BBC,” Mr Asamoah-Boateng said when he visited the GNA at the start of a weeklong official tour of the Ashanti region.

The Deputy Information Minister was, however, was not happy that the office did not have a vehicle and asked that the matter be addressed. Asked how reporters go on assignment, Mr Kofi Asetenah, the Ashanti Regional Manager of GNA told him that reporters sometime depended on the generosity of organisers of functions and public transport. Mr Asamoah-Boateng also visited the Information Services Department (ISD) and the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).

His visit will take him to nine selected districts out of the 18 districts in Ashanti. He will meet the staff of the Information Services Department (ISD), inspect HIPC projects and address the staff of some district assemblies. 27 Oct 03
