Deputy Eastern Regional Minister says govt will honour pledges

Akosombo (E/R), Sept. 15, GNA – Mr Gustav Narh-Dometey, Deputy Eastern Regional Minister on Sunday assured Ghanaians that the government would honour its pledge to let democracy and the rule of law reign supreme in the administration of the country.

“The government is determined to ensure stability of the nation and protection of individuals in the conduct of their legitimate duties”, he said.

This was contained in an address read for him at the 45th National Delegates’ Conference of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana Choirs’ Union at Akosombo in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region. The four-day conference, which was attended by over 1,000 delegates from all thirteen Presbyteries of the church, was held under the theme: “Behold, I am making all things new”.

The Deputy Regional Minister said the task of governance is enormous and implored all religious bodies to support the government with prayers to enable it to achieve the cardinal objective of improving the living standards of the people.

He expressed concern about the alarming rate of indiscipline in the society and asked Christians to develop new behaviours, attitudes and values.

Mr Narh-Dometey reminded Christians that they are expected not only to preach the good news but also to practice the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.

He commended the Presbyterian Church for its enormous contributions towards the socio-economic development not only for its members, but also the society at large.

He charged members of the Union to let their lives reflect the lyrics of the songs they sing to enable have an impact on their listeners.
