Deputy Chief of Staff files nomination to contest Oforikrom seat

After going through all the necessary procedure, the Deputy Chief of Staff at the presidency and Parliamentary candidate for oforikrom, Jonny Osei Kofi has filed his nomination to contest the elections.

Mr. Osei Kofi filed his nomination papers with officials of the Electoral Commission (EC) at the regional EC office at Danyame.

Verifying the nomination documents,the electoral officer said, he had satisfied the necessary requirements to contest the elections.

Speaking to the media, the Deputy chief of staff reaffirmed government’s commitment to resourcing the constituency to ensure environmental cleanliness and to work effectively to improve the well-being of the people.

If given the mandate he said, he will work closely with the chiefs and people in the constituency.

“I’ll involve the chiefs and people in my constituency in every project i instigate, in order to create unison among the people and to create employment for the youth”

In the 2004 elections, the NDC parliamentary candidate polled 21, 056 (29.4 per cent) votes as against the NPP’s 47, 388 (66.2 per cent).

Also in 2012, the NDC parliamentary candidate polled 29,393 (32.54 per cent) votes as against the NPP’s 58,812 (65.11 per cent)

Comparing these figures, Mr. Jonny said he’s not moved by the over 30,000 votes margin and is confident of winning the seat for the NDC.

“I’m not shaken by figures though they count, all i know is I’m winning this seat and the presidential as well. We are going to widen the gap to the surprise of everyone.”

” The people of Oforikrom are ready to change hands for massive development”.

Mr. Jonny said he will conduct a clean campaign devoid of insults, acrimony and character assassination to ensure a peaceful elections.
