The Director of communications at the presidency, Mr. Eugene Arhin has stated that the office of the president did not coerce the Deputy Minister for Agriculture, William Quaitoo to resign.
He rather said the office of the president was taken by surprise when the minister showed up to tender his resignation.
Mr. Arhin who was speaking in a radio interview said the “Decision may have been reached in the future but the minister was not coerced to resign”.
Explaining the President’s opinion on the matter, he said that Nana Addo saw it as an eye opener for his other appointees.
“The president further stated that Ghanaians voted for NPP because they are completely different from what the NDC government had offered the last 8 years so his administration must conduct their manner in the way the people of Ghana voted for.
“The sustenance of this administration will be based on the conduct of officials of this government” Mr. Arhin said.
He advised that each appointee should be guarded and guided by that mantra of the president.
Mr. Arhin said the president has not made an official statement on whether William Quaitoo will be appointed to any other public portfolio.
