Deputy Agric Minister ‘weeps’ for Alabi over SSNIT scandal

A Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Member of Parliament for New Edubiase, George Oduro, says he feels sorry for former Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Joshua Alabi over the latter’s alleged complicity in the stinking $72 million SSNIT scandal.

The minister said Prof Alabi is one of the few people in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) he respects so much due to his role in transforming UPS.

“I sympathize with Joshua Alabi because he is one of the few people in NDC I hold in high esteem. I don’t want to believe he’s complicit in this matter [SSNIT scandal] because his works vindicate him as a dedicated person,” the minister said.

Prof Joshua Alabi was Board Chairman of SSNIT when the said transaction took place. The unfortunate development may scuttle his presidential ambition according to some political watchers.

Despite huge investments into the turn-key project, the ICT infrastructure is said to be out of order raising serious concerns over value for money and due diligence.
