‘Depressed’ Legon student jumps to death at Akuafo Hall

A final year student of the University of Ghana said to be suffering from depression and high fever has allegedly committed suicide at her hostel.

Jennifer Nyarko, a Consumer Science and Agric Student, allegedly jumped from the fourth floor of the Akuafo Hall Anex ‘A’ Wednesday dawn, killing her instantly, her hall mates have confirmed.

A resident of the hall, who spoke to 3News on condition of anonymity said between the hours of 4:30 and 5:00am Wednesday, they were called outside the hall only to find Jennifer’s body in a pool of blood with just her night wear on.

“We went outside only to find her body on the floor. It wasn’t good, it was really bad. She was soaked in blood,” the witness said.

Asked whether Jennifer prior to the incident exhibited any strange behaviour or trait, the witness said “She was depressed”.

Her body has since been removed from the scene to the University Hospital.
