Denkyira Krobo (C/R), Jan. 7, GNA- The Denkyira Krobo Citizens Association has raised an amount of GHc 1,000 through a fund-raising rally it organised last Saturday in aid of a library complex for the community. The library complex estimated at GH=A2 25,000 and initiated by the Association two years ago, has reached lintel level, but due to financial constraints work on the project was stopped.

Mr Kofi Agyei Donkor, Chairman of the Association, who spoke at the ceremony said so far GH=A215,000 had been sank into the project and that the Twifo-Heman-Lower Denkyira District Assembly provided 40 bags of cement.

He said it was the aim of the Association to complete the project by April, this year and appealed to citizens to make voluntary contributions towards it.

Mr Joseph Abraham Mensah, a retired educationist who chaired the function said education as key to the development of the country. He appealed to parents to take advantage of the Government’s School Feeding Programme and Capitation Grant to send their children to school and also to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme to access affordable healthcare.

Mr Mensah said the government alone could not provide basic amenities for every community and urged the youth to participate fully in projects initiated by the community to supplement that of government. He expressed his concern about the poor academic results of school children in the area and said the library would go a long way to reverse the trend.
