Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) to launch manifesto soon

Offinso (Ash), April 4, GNA – The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) will soon launch its manifesto and constitution, Opanin Kwame Afreh, interim Ashanti Regional organiser of the party, has said.

Speaking at a meeting with functionaries and activists of the party at Offinso at the weekend, he said after the launch of the manifesto and constitution the party would step up its activities at the grassroots to increase its membership.

He said the DFP would contest the 2008 elections and added, “The DFP is the only alternative party that had the capacity and ability to save the suffering masses from their present economic situation since the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have all failed the nation.”

Opanin Afreh asked the other political parties to exercise restraint in their utterances when they mount platforms to speak to ensure the sustenance of the peace being enjoyed currently and the practice of multi-party democracy.

He said politicians should rather address issues instead of attacking personalities or whip up tension among their followers or sabotage development programmes of sitting governments. Opanin Afreh expressed regret about the occasional skirmishes that erupted among followers of some leading political parties in recent times and called for tolerance to ensure peace.

Oheneba Kofi Asamoah, an activist of the DFP, called on the party’s supporters to eschew hatred, enmity and intra-party wrangling to facilitate the party’s growth and development.
