Democrat Editor fails to honour invitation

Accra, Oct. 15, GNA – The Editor of the “National Democrat”, Ebenezer Josiah has failed to meet the Director of Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to assist with investigations into its story linking the Minister of Defence, Dr Kwame Addo-Kufuor to the serial killing of 34 women.

A statement signed in Accra by Mr Patrick Ampewuah, Deputy Director of the Criminal Investigations Department of Police, advised media houses to stop making baseless, malicious and defamatory allegations against personalities as these acts tended to divert the attention of the Police.

“The media houses and the general public are being advised to refrain from making allegations, which cannot be substantiated, since such publications tend to divert the attention of the Police.”

The statement said in April this year the “Free Press” made allegations of corruption against the Regional Police Commander of Tema and when the Editor of the paper was invited to assist in investigations he could not substantiate any of the allegations.

The Police said investigations into the serial murders have not been closed and anyone, who had useful information on the issue, should not hesitate to pass it on to the Police.
