Delusional people doing crazy things in the name of religion – KSM

Comedian Kwaku Sintim-Misa has said some “delusional” people in Ghana are hiding under the cloak of religion to do unthinkable things.

Commenting on the infamous video which captures Bishop Daniel – founder of the International God’s Way Church – stomping on a pregnant woman’s belly during an exorcism session, “The Saga of a Returnee” star, suggested that human rights regulations are being taken for granted in the country, especially because pastors get away with wrongdoing under the “guise of religiosity.”

“We can’t take democracy as a demonstration of craziness. That’s how we are practising democracy here,” KSM told Kwabena Anokye Adisi on STARR CHAT Wednesday night.

A 42-second video, which has gone viral on social media, captured the church leader repeatedly stomping on the pregnant woman to, apparently, free her of demons.

Several groups, including the MamaYe Campaign and the Alliance for Reproductive Health Rights (ARHR) have condemned the act.

Motivational speaker Rev. Albert Ocran on Tuesday also joined calls for criminal charges to be pressed against the Bishop.

KSM, who belongs to the same school of thought as Ocran, said church leaders must not be allowed to inflict harm on vulnerable people in the name of religion.

“…It’s like Oooo, its freedom of religion, you can take your foot and stomp on a pregnant woman under the guise of anointing?” he asked. “…Some of these people are deluded,” he said.
