Delta Force a gang of thieves – Invincible Force leader

Members of the Delta Force, a private security arm within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), stole phones and other items belonging to the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, George Agyei, when they besieged his office, Tupac, leader of the Invincible Force, another security outfit within the NPP, has alleged.

Speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom on Accra100.5FM on Tuesday March 28, he said: “Those who stole his phones should return them, how can you steal all his phones. Thieves! We urge the police to deal with them strictly.”

Meanwhile, the number of suspects arrested in connection with the pro-government Delta Force attack on the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator on Friday has gone up to five.

Apart from the leader of the attack, Kwadwo Bamba, who was arrested by the police after a search, four others turned themselves in and were subsequently arrested.

They have all been charged with assault and causing unlawful damage. They have been granted bail and are due to appear before court at a later date.

The police command in the region has asked all the other suspects to turn themselves in or be hunted.

The vigilante group stormed the RCC on Friday to yank out Mr George Agyei who had been freshly appointed by President Nana Akufo-Addo as Security Coordinator.

The police intervened to whisk Mr Agyei to safety. The incident has widely been criticised by various groups and politicians.

Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Peace Council, Professor Seth Opuni Asiamah, has admonished President Akufo-Addo to show “show leadership” and bring the thugs in the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to order.

“It is time those in authority, particularly I will say the president, ought to show leadership, to let his own people know that it is not the way he wants to run his government,” Prof Opuni Asiamah said while condemning the vigilante attack.

Apart from urging the president to show leadership on the matter, Prof Opuni Asiamah also condemned some leaders of the NPP for egging on the thuggery, saying it “leaves much to be desired”.
