Delta 13 back in court today

Thirteen members of pro-government vigilante group Delta Force, who escaped from custody after being remanded by a Kumasi Circuit Court, will return to the court today Tuesday April 11 to face fresh charges.

The 13 are Kojo Fosu Bamba (aka Kojo Bamba), Awal Sadat Abubakar, Abubakar Sadiq Abuhammed, Jamil Issa, Hamza Mohammed, Salu Issahak, Akwasi Owusu, Kwabena Owusu, Kofi Kyei, Agya Boadi, Salu Yussif, Yussif Salu, and Kwaku Awortwe.

The 13, until their escape, were facing charges of a conspiracy to commit crime, assault of a public officer, causing unlawful damage, and preventing a public officer from performing his lawful duties when they stormed the Ashanti Regional Security Council to drag the regional security coordinator out of his office.

They were set free by eight of their members who stormed the court following a two-week remand slapped on them by the court. The eight have been arrested and remanded in police custody.

The 13 will face a charge of escaping from lawful custody.
