Delegation informs Regional Minister about death of Binduri Chief

Bolgatanga, Nov. 2, GNA – A six-member delegation from the royal family of Binduri called on the Upper East Regional Minister, Mr. Mahami Salifu, on Tuesday to formally announce the death of Naba Abugre Azare, Divisional Chief of Binduri in the Bawku Traditional Area.

The late Naba Azare, who was enskinned in 1994, passed away on September 21, 2004 at the age of 97. He left behind three wives, 35 children and 55 grandchildren.

The Regional Minister, in his remarks, observed that the late chief was a natural leader who ruled with wisdom. “We have lost one of the hardworking chiefs in this region who had the welfare of his people at heart,” he said.

Mr. Salifu urged the people of Binduri to continue to uphold the peace and unity which their late chief stood for. “On my own behalf and on behalf of the Regional Co-ordinating Council, I wish to express our solemn condolences to the bereaved family and the entire people of Binduri in this sad moment,” the Regional Minister added.

Mr. Awuni Abugre, leader of the delegation, indicated that final funeral rites for the late Binduri Naba would be announced to the public later.
