Delegates from Paga/Chiana Constituency injured in accident

Bolgatanga, Aug 7, GNA – Twelve delegates from the Paga/Chiana constituency in the Upper East Region, were seriously injured in an accident, when the vehicle on which they were travelling, with 18 others to Paga to vote, got involved in an accident on the Katui-Chiana road.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Bolgatanga on Saturday, Mr Leo Kaba, Member of Parliament for the constituency, said the injured, three of whom had leg fractures received first aid treatment at the Chiana Health Centre, before being sent to the Navrongo Hospital.

Mr Kaba said the other delegates, who were not hurt, went on to Paga to cast their votes for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flag bearer. He said the absence of the twelve delegates would not affect the outcome of the results in the constituency that had a total of 589 eligible voters on its list.

Meanwhile, voting in the Region that had a turn out of over 80 per cent, ended at 15.00 hours and the Electoral Officers has started counting the ballot papers.
